Furthermore it is highly integrated in a 150 nm CMOS technology, since it is aimed to be a miniaturised stand-alone component of an automotive radio receiver. Its operating frequency range covers the SDARS band of the American satellite radio service between 2.320GHz and 2.345GHz. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"abstractFull_21542\" class=\"abstractFull\">The broadcasted signals of the digital satellite radio suffer from level drops caused by fast and slow fading effects due to multipath propagation. Hence, this thesis implements an integrated diversity receiver architecture to improve the signal quality and reduce audio mutes. Different solutions for this are presented and the scan-phase antenna diversity approach was chosen and developed as integrated circuit (IC). <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"abstractFull_21542\" class=\"abstractFull\">The IC was combined with the discrete components to form a complete diversity system, which was validated in a field test on a track underneath dense foliage. The reception of a single geostationary satellite with a conventional single antenna reception system results in 29.8 s of audio mute during a 289.6 s test drive. The presented integrated front-end within the described diversity system reduces the audio mute duration to a value of 4.1 s.
