Despite the basically good friction behaviour roller bearings are increasingly in the focus of the product development departments with the aim of further reducing the frictional moment. Bearing arrangements as connecting rod bearings and planetary wheel supports offer a high reduction potential because of their complex load condition and because of their multiple use in a single system. Therefore, an analysis strategy for a holistic and application-independent description of the roller bearing behaviour within an acceleration field is developed.<\/p>\n
For this purpose a new test rig was developed, with which it is possible to measure the frictional moment and the variables associated with friction like axial thrust and bearing temperature of a single roller bearing.<\/p>\n
The complex behaviour of frictional moment, axial thrust and bearing temperature was demonstrated by interpreting the findings achieved. In particular, the impact of the cage friction on the total frictional moment and the influence of the accelerated lubricant was presented in detail. Furthermore, due to the use of the frequency analysis of the frictional moment on the basis of the Fourier Transformation also experimental investigations offer a view into the inner processes of a roller bearing. This evaluation procedure provides the possibility to judge the involved internal effects and their impact on the frictional moment.<\/p>\n
