This requires more sustainable and more flexible industrial production processes. One strategy to cope with these challenges is the use of newly developed manufacturing processes such as additive manufacturing. Additive manufacturing offers enormous potential for flexibilization and individualizing of products with increased added value. However, nowadays this is associated with longer production times and lower productivity at high volumes compared to conventional processes such as forming. The combination of additive manufacturing and forming for the production of hybrid components enables exploiting the specific advantages of both technologies. The aim of this work is to receive a fundamental understanding of the formability of hybrid components. The investigations start with the systematic analysis of influencing variables in the production of additively manufactured structures on a sheet metal base body by powder-bed fusion using a laser beam (PBF-LB\/M). Then the hybrid components are characterized regarding their mechanical properties and grain structure. Formability of hybrid parts is evaluated by free bending. This allows the forming to be analyzed in terms of geometry, strain distribution, material flow and stress state.
