Beyond the physical representation of the social structure, the body can be understood as a constitutive medium of social order, a medium which has the capacity for activity and for (re)shaping discourses. So far, research has not paid much attention to the role of intersecting and entangled forms of difference in the constitution of bodies.<\/p>\n
The interdisciplinary contributions address the body from two interdependent and overlapping perspectives: On the one hand, they examine bodies in social structures and institutions, on the other, they focus on the social actors and their bodies. The intersectional approach to the body and the analysis of the multifaceted connection between categories of difference demonstrate how intersectional configurations of the body can undergo dynamic changes and produce a huge variety of effects in different cultural settings and historical contexts.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
