However, under unfavourable operating conditions, edge pressures caused by the truncation of contact ellipses cannot be completely ruled out. However, such edge pressures cannot be evaluated in a physically sound manner with the established bearing design methods, which are based on elastic contact calculations. Therefore, in this work, an approach has been\ndeveloped to evaluate edge pressures based on simulations of repeatedly rolled-over elastic-plastic contacts. The approach is based on semi-analytical methods (SAM), which are based on half-space theory. A fast, partially transient approximation method for the simulation of repeatedly rolled-over elasto-plastic contacts has been developed. Furthermore, the characteristics of edge pressures or contacts with truncated contact ellipses were investigated\nand the suitability of the SAM for their simulation was evaluated.
