Description
The core of this work is the photoelectron spectroscopy of magnesium oxide and molecules on magnesium oxide in an ultra-high vacuum. The valence band area, the band gap area, the conduction band area of magnesium oxide as well as the occupied and unoccupied molecular orbitals of tetraphenylporphyrins are examined. To investigate the influence of magnesium oxide separately, magnesium oxide on Ag (100), and thus for the first time the unoccupied part of the electronic band structure, is examined in more detail experimentally. The states involved are analyzed and compared with results on similar systems from the literature and discussed.
